( Conservation of natural resources and environment )
Meridijan works on strengthening public awareness, as well as education and encouraging young people to organized and meaningful projects for the protection and preservation of nature and the environment in the Blidinje Nature Park. We want to encourage the construction of quality non-institutional support for the sustainability of biodiversity and geodiversity in the area of Blidinje Lake and achieve effective protection of natural resources, primarily by educating the public about responsible behavior in / towards nature.
Tourists and excursionists staying in the Park currently have a significant responsibility in relation to the ecological, biological, cultural and natural environment. Unfortunately, due to the lack of public awareness of the importance and state of the environment, human violence against nature in the Blidinje Nature Park is increasing from year to year. The key role in preserving this area in the future will have individuals and visitors, who, with appropriate education and public campaigns, can be educated about the condition, significance and endangerment of the natural environment in which they reside. Lack of public awareness about this problem will inevitably result in a chain reaction of environmental degradation, due to too much human intervention in the environment. Meridijan was created with one of the main objectives being defending and recovering of the last untouched species, food, land, water, and wildlife of the area the Dinaric Alps, with special focus on Cvrsnica being the highest mountain in Herzegovina, through strategies and projects that originate concrete actions of NGO network and local communities, but also to educate and increase the environmental awareness levels of the growing population of hikers and tourists to the area. We support mountain activities and practices that promote self-sufficiency, respect for nature and shared enjoyment. The activities of Meridijan are focused on the following topics:
Our mission is to provide information, education and encouragement to the local community, especially young people to become carriers of activities that will save this natural area, wildlife habitats and water for the common good and heritage for future generations, and maintain a diverse and clean area with clean air, water and soil.
