Project Description

EU4AGRI: European Union Support for Agricultural Competitiveness and Rural Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The project “European Union Support for Agricultural Competitiveness and Rural Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina” (EU4AGRI) is a four-year initiative (2020-2024), aimed at modernizing the agri-food sector, creating new and retaining existing jobs and supporting recovery from the crisis caused by COVID -19 virus in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The focus of the project is on increasing investment in the agri-food sector and raising the level of knowledge and skills of agricultural producers and other participants in value chains through expanded provision of advisory services, as well as improving economic opportunities in rural areas. The project also enhances policies through a coherent and complementary set of activities, including strengthening institutional capacity and services, as well as supporting improvements to policies and regulatory frameworks.

The European Union project EU4AGRI published on December 7th a public call worth 3.5 million KM to support investments in primary agricultural production in BiH with the aim of achieving sustainable agriculture, controlled use of natural resources and introduction of good practices, and the creation of new and preservation of existing jobs. This public call is the third in a row published through the EU4AGRI project to support rural development, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery from the crisis caused by it.

The public call is open to natural persons, crafts / entrepreneurs, cooperatives and companies that are actively engaged in primary agricultural production in the sectors: milk production; meat production; growing cereals and oilseeds; fruit growing including viticulture and olives; vegetable growing (vegetable growing) and egg production. Applicants may apply only independently to this public call.

The total available funds under this public call amount to 3.5 million KM. Each applicant can apply for a grant in the amount of 30,000 KM to 200,000 KM (excluding VAT). For each investment, the applicant must provide its own co-financing in the amount of at least 35% of the total amount of the investment, except for the fruit and vegetable production sector where its own co-financing is at least 20%.

Anyone interested can access the public call here.

Effective use of such grants in the rural development sector can only be successfully implemented through joint efforts and business networking of sectoral actors, for example through cooperation between tourism companies, tourism operators, local governments, nature parks, cultural or sports organizations, etc. ).
