Blidinje Nature Park listed on the HIGHLANDER programme for 2021!
The Highlander program for 2021 was officially presented at the end of 2020, in one of the most impressive locations in the world – in front of the Egyptian pyramids in Giza, not far from Cairo, and also includes the Blidinje Nature Park. The ultimate mountaineering experience – Highlander Blidinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held from 24.7.-28.7.2021. through 100 kilometers of untouched nature of the Blidinje Nature Park for 5 days. This is a unique opportunity to see the beautiful Blidinje Lake, Masna Luka as a special forest reserve in the center of the park, 1500 plant species and many other sights and natural beauties.
The organizers of this life-changing long-distance mountaineering event are slowly conquering the whole world with their idea which is becoming a global phenomenon.
The locations where the Highlander takes place have been carefully selected and include famous mountains, national parks and regions known for their specific natural resources. Although Highlander involves great distances, it is not for professional hikers and mountaineers only. It welcomes nature lovers hungry for activity and adventure. The organizers point out that this event is not a race, so they do not have competitors, but participants, who, after passing the track, receive the status of Highlander and a mountaineering badge instead of a medal. Participants are self-sustaining on the trail – they carry everything they need for a five-day stay in nature on their backs, in their backpacks (like tents, sleeping bags, first aid…), while the organizer provides food, logistics and support during the event.
